About
Seeking a cat performer and experienced animal wrangler for an NYU Graduate Film project tentatively scheduled to shoot in the Litchfield, CT area between December 29 and January 4. We anticipate needing the cat for 1–2 days maximum. The film follows an existentially confused altar boy who becomes convinced that he has gotten his cat pregnant. The cat plays an important emotional and comedic role in the story, but the script has been written to require the simplest, lowest-stakes performance possible. What we’ll need: -Mostly sitting, looking, and calmly being present on camera -Eating cat food from a bowl on camera -One or two simple movement shots, such as running across a room or jumping onto a bed -Being held by a child performer in two brief scenes Any more complicated action will be implied off-screen through editing and sound design rather than performed by the cat. We’re looking for a patient, experienced wrangler who puts the animal’s comfort and safety first. We’re very open to collaboration and would love to work with someone who can help us determine what is realistic and appropriate for the cat. We’re happy to adjust or rewrite scenes as needed based on your recommendations. We’re a small crew of professional young filmmakers working through NYU, and we’ll make sure the set is calm, controlled, and respectful of the animal’s needs. No significant stunts or dangerous animal action are required. The production is fully insured through NYU. If you’re interested, please reach out with your availability, experience with animal performers, and any relevant information about the cat you’d be bringing. We’re also happy to discuss logistics, rates, and what would make the shoot most comfortable for you and the animal. Script available upon request. Contact: connelloberman@gmail.com 904-599-6884
